‘Kirkie Steps’ Montrose, Angus
Acrylic on Canvas
About Brae & Brush
Brae & Brush is inspired by Scotland’s dramatic coastlines, changing skies and peaceful landscapes.
Each painting is created to capture the atmosphere, movement and light that make Scotland such a special place. I work mainly in acrylics, using brushes and palette knives to create texture and movement. Every piece is designed to bring a little of Scotland into your home.
My Story
I attended Duncan of Jordanstone Collage of Art & Design from 1998-2002, graduating with a BDes (Hons) in Illustration & Printmaking. I spent many years working creatively before returning to painting as a way to relax during lockdown. I fell in love with painting all over again and the rest is history.
Today I paint from my home in Angus, creating original artwork inspired by the ever-changing skies of the Scotland. When I’m not painting, you’ll often find me walking the Angus coastline with my sketchbook, searching for the next scene that catches my eye.
Inspiration
Living in the North East coast of Scotland provides endless inspiration. My approach to painting explores the themes of shelter, solitude, sunlight and shadows, and the meeting of nature and construction in walkways and coastlines. I enjoy capturing perspective in nature and urban settings, inviting your eye to travel through the scene and wonder what lies beyond. Each painting reflects a moment that caught my eye and stayed with me.
Whether it’s the calm of an early morning or the sense of exploring towns and country, I hope my paintings tell a story and evoke the feeling of being there.
Follow me on social media for behind-the-scenes glimpses, new paintings and inspiration from my travels.
Whether you’re looking for an original painting, a fine art print, or simply enjoy exploring Scottish landscapes through art, I hope you find something that connects with you.
Thank you for visiting Brae & Brush.
